A few of our favourite things to do

There's so much to do in the surrounding area you'll be spoilt for choice.
There are three lovely beaches within a ten minute walk from the house. Snowdonia has walks for all abilities and ages but for the more adventurous there is climbing, mountain biking and even the world's fastest zipline within easy reach.
For those who enjoy boats, the harbour in Borth-y-Gest gives access to the estuary. Jetski-ing and kite surfing are available at Black Rock Sands which is only a few minutes away.
Porthmadog has a challenging golf course, the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways and an Escape Room.

There are three supermarkets and lots of take-aways in the town and a good choice of restaurants both in Porthmadog and within a 15 minute drive.
Portmeirion is an Italianate style village just outside Porthmadog and is well worth a visit.

The Wales Coast Path is about two minutes from the house. Tracking the entire Welsh Coast, the path is clearly marked and gives access to many beaches and walks.

The Ffestiniog Railway is the world’s oldest narrow gauge railway with almost 200 years of history, taking you on a 13½-mile journey from the harbour in Porthmadog to the slate-quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog.

The Welsh Highland Railway is the UK’s longest heritage railway and runs for 25 miles from Caernarfon, past the foot of Snowdon and the picture postcard village of Beddgelert, then through the stunning Aberglaslyn Pass and on to Porthmadog. Passengers ride in some of the most comfortable carriages on any heritage railway in the UK, including first class Pullman luxury and freshly-cooked food delivered to your seat.

Beddgelert  is a 15 minute drive from Borth y Gest. The picturesque stone-built village is ideal  for exploring all the classic sights and beauty spots – Aberglaslyn Pass to the south, Nant Gwynant to the east, Snowdon to the north. Nearby Rhyd Ddu and the Watkins path are great starting points for challenging walks to the summit of Snowdon. The Sygun Copper Mine is close by and is a popular family attraction with both below ground and above-ground activities, including a children’s adventure playground and  bouncy castle. Beddgelert's also home to some of the best ice-cream in the world at Glaslyn Ices!

Portmeirion Village is a multi-award-winning tourist attraction on the pristine southern shoreline of Snowdonia where guests can experience the best of Welsh hospitality in a quirky setting.

This picturesque coastal village isn’t quite like other Welsh villages: there are no residents, cars, school or bank here. It’s a uniquely constructed tourist village where visitors can experience a slice of Italy on the Welsh coast.

It's walkable from the cottage (45mins) or about 10 mins in the car.

Porthmadog Golf Club is a 5 minute drive away and offers a warm welcome and a challenging James Braid designed golf course. The first 9 holes are slightly inland with trees and water hazards but the back 9 provide stunning links golf  with undulating fairways, blind tee shots and tight greens. With views across Cardigan Bay and Black Rock Sands, the 13th tee is a particular highlight. If you're looking for a golfing break Royal St David's at Harlech and Nefyn Golf Club are also within easy reach.

Zipworld offers 3 sites within 40 minutes of the cottage with adventures, adrenalin and excitement for adults and children. Penrhyn  has the world's fastest zipline, Llechwedd is home to underground activities including trampolining, golf  and many others. Fforest provides activities amongst the trees.
